Project Type: Interior Renovation - Kitchen, Mudroom, Great Room, Dining Room, Powder Bathroom
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Description: This Kitchen, Dining, and Great Room had all the square footage this young family needed, but it was organized in a way that didn't suit their lifestyle. We built a dividing wall between the Kitchen and new Mudroom, opened up a doorway from the Kitchen into a larger cased opening to the Dining Room, and closet off a different passageway out of the Kitchen. By rearranging the major pathways around these areas we were able to establish better uses for each of the rooms. A true Mudroom and a larger Kitchen with more countertop space and a direct connection to the Dining and Great Rooms and the natural light from the beautiful windows installed in a previous renovation/addition. We also reconfigured a Powder Room into a code-friendly space by annexing a closet. That closet space was regained by closing off the previously mentioned passageway.
